Dr Tom Crawford was among the Moderators at the 11th Heidelberg Laureate Forum, who during The 11th HLF event that invited 200 young researchers and about 25 laureates from diverse environment.
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) is a networking conference where 200 carefully selected young researchers across the world gathered yearly on the month of September who are already undergone researchers in the field of mathematics and computer science study, with an extensive list of over 100 as Guest and Speakers during the Forum, listed on the Participant Directory booklet but this reporter finds you as one among the moderator at the HLF event, which I encourage everyone to know about Tom Rocks Maths, he open up why he keeps attending the HLF as moderator , he concluded that if the committee will invite him back next year for the 12th HLF forum, he can also perform more better job as moderator and many more
1. Can you tell us about yourself?
A: I teach math’s at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge
2. How did the idea to attend this year forum come to your mind, where did you get the information?
A. I was asked by the HLF to moderate some sessions
3. How did you get the idea to study your course mathematics at your university?
A. Math’s has always been my favourite subject
4. What are your expectations for the future after going back from this forum from?
A. I hopefully they invite me back next year to do some more moderating!
5. Which problems or difficulties did you have to face and how did you manage them during your study?
A. I had to work very hard as the course is very intense. But as Oxford terms are only 8 weeks I was able to keep my head down and power through, and then recover in the vacations (which are 6 weeks)
6. What do you like most about the life of young scientists?
A. The freedom to set my own schedule
7. What tip would you give your student in your country who is interested in becoming young scientists like you?
A. I teach as many courses as possible because it is how you truly master the material, and it makes you very employable!
8. Who is your mentor?
A. No one specifically but my Phd supervisor Prof. Paul Linden had a big influence on me
